Michelle D Taylor, PhD, DClinPsy, CPsychol, AFBPsS ORCID logo

Director of Clinical Research

Michelle is Director of Clinical Research. She leads on the design, development and use of cancer measures including the Cancer Dependent Quality of Life (CancerDQoL) questionnaire, the Cancer Treatment Satisfaction Questionnaire (CancerTSQ) and the Cancer Symptom Rating Questionnaire (CancerSRQ). Michelle has also worked on the development of the Hypoglycaemia Symptom Rating Questionnaire (HypoSRQ) for people with diabetes and measures of treatment satisfaction for people with Parkinson’s disease (Parkinson’sTSQ) and dementia (MemoryTSQ). She has experience of conducting and supervising research, including projects using the Audit of Diabetes Dependent Quality of Life (ADDQoL), Diabetes Treatment Satisfaction Questionnaire (DTSQ) and the Well-being Questionnaire (W-BQ). Michelle publishes peer-reviewed research in academic journals and presents at academic conferences.

Michelle is a HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist, with a wealth of experience in NHS settings where she specialised in providing psychological support to individuals with long-term health conditions including cancer and palliative care, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, chronic pain, and respiratory conditions. Michelle is experienced in conducting neuropsychological assessments to evaluate cognitive abilities.  

Formerly, Michelle completed an MSc and a PhD in Psychology and went on to work as a post-doctoral Research Fellow and later as a Lecturer in Individual Differences at the University of Edinburgh (1998-2008). Michelle has also worked as a Lecturer in Clinical Psychology at Royal Holloway, University of London (2016-2020). She maintains contact with the Doctoral Programme as an Associate Clinical Tutor/Visiting Consultant.

Michelle is a Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol) and an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (AFBPsS). She is also a member of the International Society for Quality of Life Research (ISOQOL), the Behavioural Research in Diabetes Group Exchange (BRIDGE; a US-based group with membership by invitation only), the UK Association of Clinical Psychologists (UK-ACP) and the Association of Contextual Behavioural Science (ACBS).
