Alison Wilson, BSc, PGCert
Linguistic Validation
Alison joined HPR in 2008 and manages the Linguistic Validation (LV) team.
Alison’s LV role includes training new members of the LV team, working closely with the LV team, reviewing LV reports, checking and preparing final copies of questionnaires, liaising with commercial translation companies and LV specialists, and assisting non-commercial LV teams through the LV process.
With a background in psychology (BSc in psychology from the University of Reading), teaching English (CertTESOL), and language learning (Institute of Linguists, Goethe-Institut), Alison is sympathetic to the difficulties that can occur in translation across languages and cultures.
Alison’s language experience, understanding of the questionnaires and close collaboration with team members ensure that HPR provides an excellent standard of care and attention to every LV project.
Alison applies her psychology degree to the review of protocols from licensees requesting Professor Bradley’s PROMs. When Trial Specific Instructions (TSIs) are considered necessary in ‘Change’ versions of Treatment Satisfaction Questionnaires, Alison considers the clarity of TSIs for both patient comprehension and for translation into other languages when preparing them.
